I am part of a large homeschooling group in the metropolitan DC area. We are doing a lot of activities centered on Chinese culture and wanted to see if the embassy in town had any tours or programs it offers for local school groups. I have tried every phone number I have found…online, phone book, information…and none of them have gotten me to a live person. The email listed on the website is no longer working and all my notes have bounced back. All the “educational” program links on the site are in Chinese..am guessing they are for students wanting to come from China to study here. Does anyone know if this embassy offers anything like I mentioned above?

Is It Possible To Get A Student Discount On Tools?

I am going to college to become an ASE certified technician, and later in the year I will need some pretty pricey tools to work with out in the garage.
The bookstore in our campus used to have a student discount on tools through Craftsman tools, but that discount is no longer available since the bookstore has been contracted out by a new company.
I need to know if there is any way to get a student discount on tools… any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why Do Online Brokers Only Offer Small, Random Amounts Of Shares To Short?

I have attempted numerous times to short with Scottrade, and they often say “only 23 or 25 or 37 shares available to short.” These were for heavily traded company shares (in the 10s of millions).
How is it possible that these firms only have such small, random amounts available to short at any one time? Is it a way for them to make increased commissions for the buyer of short shares to buy in small lots?
Has anyone had this experience with either TD or Scottrade?
