What Are The Advantages And Discounts That I Can Get When Having Students Card In Germany?
You’ll get a student rate for the trams and buses, i.e. the town/city transport, wherever you’re based – in my experience, its quite a bit less than the adult rates.
As for trains – no, a student card won’t get you a cheaper ticket – in this case, you would need to purchase whats called a Bahn25 card (costs 55euro, 25per cent reduction on all trains) or a Bahn50 card (costs 220euro, 50per cent price reduction on all trains) – both of these cards are valid for a year.
And with regards to Shops – well again, based upon my experiences, shops don’t offer student discounts in Germany (where I’m from, students generally get a 10per cent discount in music shops, clothes shops etc. so I was disappointed to find that Germany didn’t have this way of thinking too!)
There is a student rate at the cinema, but this is usually restricted to one day a week (’Studententag’)
