“If a company requires initial payment from you in order to work for them, they are not legitimate.”
There are a few legitimate data entry companies but are not hiring and have large waiting lists (1-2yrs). The majority of data entry jobs you seen online are scams. A real company will want you to have skills inc fast typing, may want you to know MS Excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but thats rare.
If you do an advanced search on yahoo, you will find previous answers, sometimes the info on these is good as the info they gave is likely to have been verified if the answer was voted as ‘Best’. Please see the other information on my profile about searching recruitment websites.

I have recently been looking for jobs and i think the best websites i’ve used are : http://www.reed.co.uk and http://www.jobrapido.co.uk and http://www.gumtree.co.uk..
On gumtree.co.uk you can post a free ad if you go to “job wanted” and say what job your looking for etc and wait for replies. And the other two are good search engine job sites..
Good luck.

One legitimate site is PeopleString: http://www.peoplestring.com/?u=dylanh1999
Its publicly traded and has a great business model: basically the company divides the money it makes on advertising up among its members so that it can attract more members and make more money. I’m doing it right now and it definitely works. It won’t make you rich, but it can provide a nice extra income for anybody with no effort.
Try it! Good luck!

I’m making some money off a few paid-to-click sites, which basically you get paid for viewing advertisements for a certain amount of time, usually 30 seconds. I don’t really believe in investing money online to make money, as there’s so many dishonest people out there trying to scam you. The sites I’m on are very legit, trust me. anything that asks money for something which is offered by other sites for free is a fraud , especially over the internet , don’t fall for it.

There is an excellent google search engine which list online job vacancies like transcription and data entry. See my profile for more details. (click on my picture to view profile)
